Good selection for your aparture getting the entire squirrel in focus. Tried this myself while visiting New York and had a lower aparture value resulting in a blurred tail. The DOF is perfect imo. I would say you really nailed this composition! Top marks from me! Good luck in nominations btw.

Thanks for all of the c&c. flyhart - it was a cool morning but I think the photographer with his hands on a cold camera is more deserving of your sympathy than the furry-pawed rodent Tysmin - I have seen many that look much redder than this one. Not sure but I think it may be seasonal & they look redder during spring and summer

I love squirrels and chipmunks, and I love this photo. Excellent capture. Great details, composition and pose. The only thing I would play with (if it were my photo) is to heal out the green area on the left; otherwise, I also like the background.
