An odd composition but I think it works. Would prefer to see more of the owl.

Nice work Don. I agree with Michelle on everything. ......... though the owl being partially hidden does add to the feeling that it's hiding from you. Very good work!

@painfulneck: Your baby looks like an owl?! lol :p

I really like this "different" composition. The unusual composition makes it even stronger than the "perfect" comps...

Wish maybe for more focus on the owl (selective focus) and a more out of focus (blurred) background (the yellow:ish branch section that is)... :)

All together a very unique and wonderful capture! :)

A wonderful capture! I like the composition although this would work in portrait format as well.

this makes me aware of how crappy it would be to play hide and seek with an owl..I love the strange composition. I think it works brilliantly. Great details

Thanks for the comments.

A full frontal view of the owl was not possible due to trees blocking the view. The owl's back was in plain view from another location and several photographers (including myself) were waiting for it to turn around or turn its head. We were rewarded when it eventually turned its head in our direction, but I think that this partial view is much more interesting than some of my other photos that show the whole owl.

great capture...I would increase a little bit contrast and saturation...

I would probably crop from the right and center the owl in the composition.
But the concept is very cool.
